Welcome! Family Weather is here to educate and provide a deeper dive into weather forecasts and science related topics for Northern Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee. Our goal is to empower you with weather knowledge to integrate in your daily decisions to help your family.
Family Weather is run by Elise and Chris Schultz. We both have PhD’s in Atmospheric Science and are approaching 40 years of combined experience in the field of meteorology. Graduate School at UAH brought us to the Huntsville/Madison area years ago from the Midwest and we continue to live and work in the community while raising our three children. Outside of our passion for weather, we both coach at the youth and high school levels for a mix of soccer, basketball, and cross country. Say hi if you see us in the community!
We welcome you to join our Facebook interactive group and ask questions. We’ll do our best to provide level-headed responses to help explain what is going on and provide additional context for your understanding. Most importantly, we work within the weather enterprise, so official warnings, watches, and advisories are from the National Weather Service offices in Huntsville, Nashville, and Birmingham, which cover the parts of the area this group serves. During high impact events, rely on the National Weather Service and your favorite media outlets to keep up with warnings. We will not be able to keep up with everyone, plus Facebook algorithms will limit our posts making it to your feed.
