Wednesday weather update 1:20 PM
Currently, we have scattered showers with some thunderstorms throughout central and north central Alabama into southern middle Tennessee. These showers will start to taper off later this afternoon with only a small chance remaining for an isolated shower this evening. As we go into the overnight and early Thursday morning, a line of storms will move into the region from the northwest. There is uncertainty on the intensity of this line as it is anticipated to be in the dying/dissipating stages as it moves into region. Any morning outdoor activities should have backup plans in place due to lightning potential. We will see another round of showers and thunderstorms push into the region Thursday afternoon/evening.
As we move into the Summer Solstice and the weekend, a high pressure area sets up shop over the southeast, bringing hot temperatures and sunny skies. If you have outdoor activities planned this weekend, bring shade, sunscreen, and a fan – there won’t be much wind movement.
The humidity increases Monday and into next week and with that there’s an increase for afternoon thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday. The extended forecast looks to continue a similar trend of summer temperatures and afternoon thunderstorm chances.
